OUR VILLAGE ELDERS ARE THE FRONTLINE FOR AIDS RELIEF
The death of young parents brings a number of additional problems to African elders. As adults in their most productive years die, elderly grandparents, with limited physical capacity, frequently head vacated households. When they die of old age themselves, the children are forced into the streets. Without adequate support, they are often exposed to abuse, while increasing their risk for HIV infection themselves.

African families and communities are the front-line caregivers, critical to addressing the challenges confronting the millions of AIDS orphans. Building society's maximum capacity to better care for these vulnerable children, the primary focus of the project, (as informed by local African community elders), is to focus resources and to expand coverage to include grandparent caregivers.
If you want to contribute online you can do so here. The beneficiary organizations have adopted an operational target whereby 80% of your contribution will be spent to support community programs, and only 10% will be used for regional advocacy. No more than 10% will go to cover administrative and overhead costs in the U.S.A.
